More about our Dyslexia Specialist – Meet Mrs.Cindy Hendershott!
Hi! I’ve been teaching ever since I was old enough to line up my stuffed animals and give them a lesson. I was so inspired by my 2nd grade teacher and I’ve never looked back! My 28 year career has included being a preschool teacher, a 3rd grade classroom teacher, a 1st grade teacher, a 4th grade writing teacher, a reading interventionist, a dyslexia specialist, and an art teacher. I have my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education from The University of Oklahoma. (Boomer Sooner!) I am certified to be a Reading Intervention Specialist through Adams State, and I received my training to become a Dyslexia Practitioner through Kris Smith Educational Services in Amarillo, Texas. I became a certified Certified Academic Language Practitioner through ALTA in 2023. Recently, I completed the Neurolearning-Dyslexic Advantage Certified Professionals Program, which makes it possible for me to bring this much needed screening service to our North Colorado families. I am so excited to partner with your family and light the path for all kids to reach their highest, most beautiful potential!

What Our Clients Say
Parent testimonial:
“My daughter has grown so much in her confidence as a reader since starting tutoring with Cindy. She looks forward to their sessions each week and was even asked recently what her favorite after school activity was out of all the things she’s involved in and her answer was tutoring.
We’ve struggled to figure out just how our daughter’s brain processes things and Cindy came to us with new information she’d learned about dyslexia and a new screener she had been trained in administering. She’d had our daughter in mind during her training wondering if this might be what we were missing. We were able to schedule her screening for her very next tutoring session and quickly received results back pointing to a very high likelihood that her reading struggles were due to dyslexia. Soon after, we received a report with recommendations after reviewing her screening. All of this information can be shared immediately with her teachers so we can all start adapting how she is taught to her learning style. Being able to get this information so quickly meant we weren’t battling long wait times for an official diagnosis before being able to help her in the ways that work best for her. We had initially been hesitant to pursue an official diagnosis off of a hunch and no experience of our own with dyslexia, knowing the cost associated with testing. Having this screener gives us more confidence in going down that path knowing the higher likelihood of a diagnosis. We are now so excited for her upcoming school year where she will get to go into school showing how much growth she made over the summer rather than the typical backslide that often happens during these months. We are so grateful to have connected with NoCo Tutoring and Enrichment and for the excellent pairing with Cindy.”
